Coach Mogaji Dismisses Reports of Political Rally at Kwara Stadium

Executive Chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, has vowed that Kwara Stadium will be fit and ready for Kwara United Football Club next season.

The sports commission boss also dispelled reports that the stadium was used for any political rally leading to the pitches needing repairs.

“Only person that has been in Kwara for the last four years would say that the Kwara State stadium main bowl was used for political rally,” said Coach Mogaji, in an oblique reference to a statement from some political opposition element who alleged that the stadium was put to use for political rally by the state governor.

Earlier, though, the Nigerian Premier Football League had listed Kwara State Stadium as one of the stadia that may not see action in top tier league owing to what the league body discribed as deplorable condition.

Apart from Kwara United, Abia Warriors, Sunshine Stars, Shooting Stars, are other clubs that have been directed to work on defects in their stadium. The others are Niger Tornadoes, Plateau United, and the newly promoted El-Kanemi Warriors. The league body ordered the clubs to upgrade their playing turf or face the prospect of playing on alternative grounds.
But Coach Mogaji said that these routine directives made to clubs at the end of seasons which does mean that the entire stadium ground is bad.

“Kwara State Stadium has one of the best tuffs in the country. It is normal that at the end of the season, some patches or aspect of the stadium would need repairs. That is all the league body is saying,”
explained the Sports commission boss.
