The Chairman governing council International Aviation College Ilorin, Alhaji Ahmed Gobir has said they have set a new record as the college achieved a major milestone by graduating 25 students some months back.
He made this known on Friday 9th Dec, 2022 during the symbolic Check-Ride exercise for ten Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR) Multi-Engine Rating (MER) and Private Pilot License (PPL) Students held at the college premises along Ilorin International Airport Road.
Gobir enjoined the graduands to maintain the discipline, and professionalism which they have been taught and apply it wherever they find themselves.
“I’m very sure they will make the college proud in the aviation industry”
He therefore, commended Kwara state governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman for his commitment towards ensuring the survival and sustainability of the college, “we are also looking forward to more support to raise the college to a higher standard.”
He however congratulated the instructors for discharging their duties without any hindrance.
Speaking with Just Event Online TV, the Acting Rector of International Aviation College, Ilorin, Capt. Yakubu Okatahi, noted that the college was able to achieve the landmark achievements due to the efforts of the new management to reposition and revamped it.
“The students have just graduated as a pilot now they have qualified for a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR) Multi-Engine Rating (MER) and Private Pilot License (PPL), they are ready to go in the aviation industry, and airlines will employ them and trained them on the type of plane they are using.”
“We are graduating 10 students today and we graduated 15 months back which makes them 25 together”
Speaking further he commended the instructors and College staff for doing a wonderful job, he urged them to continue bringing their best to the table.
He appreciated the state governor for funds released to the college to execute some projects, and also commended him for the prompt payment of salaries.
The rector also commended the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Afeez Alabi Abolore for his support towards the success of the College
On his part, One of the Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR) Multi-Engine Rating (MER) graduands, John Ikechucku Onwu, said “I give thanks to Almighty God because today is a great day in my life, I waited for 17 years to achieve this feat.”
He thanked the new management of Aviation College for their unwavering support and he also commended instructors for their support and discipline.
“I want the students to know that I am an example of perseverance and consistency, he enjoined them to concentrate and be dedicated”
