Following the posting and appointment of officers across the military formations and units of the Nigerian Army. Brig Gen Ezra Barkins has officially taken over as the 23rd Commander of 22 Brigade Nigerian Army Ilorin. He took over from Major General Oluwafemi David Williams, who has been posted to Army Headquarters Department of Logistic as the Director of Army Housing.

According to the release, in his farewell address, the immediate past Commander, Major General Oluwafemi Williams thanked the Almighty God for a successful tour of duty. He also thanked the Chief of Army Staff for the confidence reposed in him to serve as the 22nd Commander 22 Brigade. General Williams expressed his appreciation to officers and soldiers of the Brigade for their unflinching support, loyalty, commitments, discipline, and professionalism which has contributed tremendously to the achievements and successes recorded during his tour of duty. He however enjoined them to extend the same courtesy to the new commander.
In his remarks, Brig Gen Ezra Barkins appreciated his predecessor for the legacies and foot prints he left behind, acknowledging his contribution and promising outstanding leadership and remarkable accomplishment to build on the success and achievements of his predecessor which has drastically reduce banditry and insecurity in Kwara State and the Brigade Operational Area.
Highlight of the handing & taking over event was the signing of the Handing and Taking Over note, decoration of the incoming commander with the Brigade’s Insignia, the symbolic handing over of the Brigade’s flag, lowering and hosting of the old and new flags signifying the end and beginning of command, as well as inspection of the Quarter Guard demonstrating the Brigade’s discipline, readiness, professionalism.
