The Kwara State Chairman PDP Youth Advisory Council, Otukoko Olayinka Ibrahim has reacted to the defcction of Shesan Philips to ruling All Progressives Congress
In a press release signed by him and Obtained by Just Event Online on Tuesday night, reads
OF COMRADE SHESAN PHILIPS AND HIS POLITICAL JOURNEY TO APC, NOBODY DECAMPS FROM THE PDP
I just came across a news reported by an online media platform JustEvent online with the heading “Kwara PDP Crisis Deepens as Youth Council Member Joins APC”
This news, according to JustEvent online media is to report defection of Mr. Shesan Philips Abegunde from Oke Ero local government of Kwara State from the Peoples DemocraticParty PDP to All Progressive Congress APC as a result of crisis in the PDP.
To set the records straight, Mr. Shesan Philip ceased to be a member of the People Democratic Party since 4th day of June, 2023 when he wrote an open letter showing his resignation as a party member from the Peoples Democratic Party. Mr. Shesan Philips, in his open letter, cited the reasons for his resignation as the need to focus on his business and his family as party activities have taken him away from these responsibilities for years. Someone who resigned from membership of a political party cannot decamp from the same party three months after.
Mr. Shesan Philips, till his resignation on the 4th of June, 2023, was a member of the Kwara State PDP Youth Advisory Council and ever since he tendered his resignation, he has stopped involving in any of the group activities and have been removed from all the group’s social media platforms.
It is correct to say Mr. Philips joined APC from the comfort of his home than to say he joined APC from the PDP. For the records, Mr Shesan, as at yesterday Monday 4th September, 2023, wasn’t a member of the PDP nor a member of the PDP State Youth Advisory Council. There is no a way he would have decamped from a party he has ceased to be a constitutionally recognised member of for months now.
