… Extend gratitude to Gov AbdulRazaq, others
The Countryside Emerging Leaders Fellowship, CELF, on Monday announces it second edition since the inception of the program last year.
CELF, an annual life changing experience for Kwara youths, specifically and deliberately positioning the project to priotize young people living in the rural communities as major participants in order to build the capacity of young people living the rural settlements.
The State, Coordinator of the program, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe disclosed this during a briefing with Journalists in Ilorin, said the programme is open only for secondary school students in Kwara rural public schools who has a good academic record within the age of 15 to 25 years.
He, noted that among the criteria for the 2020 edition for selecting participants will also be adopted for the 2021 edition of the fellowship, was that secondary schools across the state, particularly those local in rural settlements would be given opportunities to nominate at least good students with qualities that meet to expectation and after the nomination, an interview exercise will be conducted to choose the best two, a male and a female.
He also added that judging by the outstanding success recorded in the previous year, the fellowship has decided to retain same approach in the selection process.
“The only slight difference is the letter of intent which we may require intending participants to submit with other application documents to explain why they want to participate in the Fellowship and what their expectations are.
The Schedule of activities for CELF include a two -week camping during which each participant is paired with a mentor, while youths already making a mark in their chosen professions are brought to camp all through to speak to participants as influencers and role models.
The camp would end with an excursion to designated places of interest, after which a six month rigorous process of community intervention and mobilization by each of the participants would commence.”
” While we struggled to secure the buy-in of sponsors and donors last year, we are glad to report that the impact of CELF in the lives of the pioneer Fellows, as well as the outstanding contributions they have been able to inject into their communities, has endear the Fellowship to a significant number of partners who have now come onboard to offer their absolute support”, he added.
He however, thanked the governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his faith in the project as well as his commitments and support for the initiative.
