Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medallist, Ese Brume has reclaimed her Africa women’s long jump title as well as her fourth after topping the chart at the ongoing 2024 Africa Senior Athletics Championship in Cameroon on Sunday.
Brume came from second place and landed a massive 6.73m in her last attempt to nick the title ahead of Burkina Faso’s Marthe Koala who was leading with 6.72m after five attempts.
The 28-year-old had won the title in 2014 (Marrakesh), 2016 (Durban) and on home soil, Asaba in 2018.
Though her win was shy of the 6.86m 2024 Olympics qualification standard, Brume still has a ticket to Paris by ranking.
