The Offa Descendants Union (ODU) held a town hall meeting on Friday to address the persistently erratic power supply and the issue of vandalized transformers in the Offa IBEDC Service Hub. Dissatisfied with the lack of response from IBEDC Management since their previous meeting on May 23rd, 2023,
The electricity customers convened at the Offa Descendants Union Hall, demanding immediate action. After thorough deliberation, the attendees reached the following resolutions:
In a letter obtained by Just Event Online TV on Friday
Removal of the Present Offa Service Hub Manager – Mr. Issac Olorungbon: The manager has been accused of incompetence, withholding information about the ongoing vandalization in Offa, and obstructing the progress of the hub. The ODU demands his removal within seven (7) days from the date of the meeting.
Peaceful Protest: If the manager is not removed by the IBEDC management by Friday, July 21st, 2023, all IBEDC customers in Offa Service Hub will carry out a peaceful protest after obtaining permission from relevant security agencies.
Payment Boycott: In the event that the manager is not removed within seven (7) days of the protest, which is by Friday, July 28th, 2023, all IBEDC customers in Offa Service Hub will stop paying all estimated bills until their grievances are addressed.
Financial Contribution Ceased: The ODU insists that electricity customers should no longer contribute financially to repair or replace any IBEDC facility or equipment in the Offa Service Hub.
Non-Acceptance of Estimated Bills: If a community experiences electricity supply disruptions for a minimum of 25 days, they are urged not to accept any estimated bill for the affected period and refrain from making payments.
Engagement with New Manager: Once a new manager assumes duty for IBEDC Offa Service Hub, the relevant committees of ODU will engage with them to discuss critical energy matters affecting Offa.
The ODU representatives present at the meeting attest to the accuracy and authenticity of the resolutions reached. The community hopes that their demands will be met promptly, ensuring reliable power supply and addressing the issue of vandalized transformers in the Offa IBEDC Service Hub.
