The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Kwara Chapter and the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) NHQs have both publicly distanced themselves from the Iftar gathering organized by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor of Kwara State.
In separate statements released on Monday and obtained by Just Event Online TV, NANS Kwara, led by Comrade Issa Abdulgafar A, and NAKSS NHQs, under Comrade Abdulwahab Habeebullahi Arewa, announced their decision to abstain from the event, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the New Flower Garden, Ilorin.
According to NANS Kwara, the decision to opt out of the gathering was made collectively by the student body. “The reason behind us distancing ourselves from this gathering is best known to us without any compromise,” the statement read.
The group also emphasized that the event organizers would be held responsible for any consequences that may arise.
Similarly, NAKSS NHQs cited undisclosed reasons and prior commitments as factors behind their non-participation.
While we will not be able to attend, we truly appreciate the opportunity, the statement noted, adding that the event organizers would bear full responsibility for any potential fallout.
Both student bodies reiterated their commitment to prioritizing the welfare of students and maintaining their stance on the issue.
