The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as “Portable,” over allegations bordering on criminal defamation and other related offences.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi and obtained by Just Event Online TV , the arrest followed a petition filed by one Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly known as “Osupa,” accusing the singer of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
“In view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the Command secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin,” the statement read.
Police operatives from the Kwara State Command subsequently proceeded to Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, 2025, where Portable was arrested at about 7:25 PM. He was immediately brought to Ilorin for further investigation.
Upon his arrival, the singer’s statement was obtained in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. The police confirmed he is currently in custody and will be charged to court without delay.
The Command reiterated its commitment to due process and urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
