The kwara State’s chapter of the PDP presidential campaign council has made a strong allegation against the the ruling APC of indulging in what they described as E-vote buying before the 25th February general elections day. This is contained in a statement signed by the body’s Director General, Dr. Mahamud Babatunde Ajeigbe as thus;
“As we approach the Presidential election day, Saturday, February 25, 2023, It has come to the notice of the Kwara PDP Presidential Campaign Management Council (PCC) that, against the stance of President Muhammadu Buhari, INEC, the Nigeria Police and all reasonable Nigerians, Kwara state government under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq is currently engaging in vote buying by transferring funds meant for development in the state to unsuspecting electorates.”
“Reports reaching us at the PCC from some of those who have benefited from the largesse show that certain groups working for the state government have started transferring money, between N10,000 and N20,000 to voters; some of which are members of our party, the PDP.”
“Having relied heavily on vote buying but now facing disappointment as a result of the ongoing cashless policy by the FG, the Kwara State government has resulted to electronic funds transfer to would be voters in panic.”
“Dear Kwarans, these are funds meant for development of the state but the present government callously kept them till now for vote buying. We should jointly say no to a party that wants to continue wasting our resources just to satisfy their selfish ambition.”
The kwara State’s PDP PCC, however, called on the concerned government agencies and other stakeholders to do the needful as to make sure kwarans’ conscience are not subjected to undue pressure;
“We therefore call on relevant authorities like the EFCC,ICPC the police, INEC, etc, to watch closely and do the needful.”
“Reasonable Nigerians have resolved to have free, fair and credible elections to elect those who will lead them, and any government that lays claim to performance should let its works do the campaign; not vote buying.”
“Kwarans please let’s be watchful and reject attempts to use vote buying to influence you”
