The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reassured the people of the state of his commitment to peace, stability, and good governance despite the ongoing political turmoil.
In a heartfelt address, Governor Fubara emphasized that since assuming office, his administration has remained focused on protecting lives and property while ensuring continuous progress in the state.
He noted that despite the political impasse, he had upheld constitutional order and the rule of law, always prioritizing the interests of Rivers people. The governor highlighted his compliance with the peace agreement brokered by President Bola Tinubu, including the reinstatement of commissioners who had earlier resigned.
Fubara stated that his government swiftly implemented the Supreme Court’s judgment to restore normalcy, demonstrating a genuine commitment to unity and stability. However, he lamented that certain members of the Rivers State House of Assembly had repeatedly obstructed efforts to achieve lasting peace.
Despite these challenges, the governor assured residents that the government remains functional, with salaries being paid and major projects progressing. He affirmed that Rivers State remains safe and secure under his leadership.
Governor Fubara urged the people to remain peaceful and law-abiding while his administration continues to engage relevant institutions to uphold democracy and ensure the state’s continued development.
“We have always been a resilient people, and we will face this situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process,” he stated.
He concluded his address with a message of hope, invoking divine blessings on Rivers State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
