Mr Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo jas reacted to the judgement of Apex court
In a press release made available to Just Event Online TV by his media aide
Today, the 20th day of February 2023, the Apex Court ruled out the Appeal and Cross-Appeals filed by both Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo and Hon. Raheem Tunji Olawuyi (Ajuloopin) respectively. The court requested the parties to withdraw their appeals and subsequently ruled that the APPEALS were thereby WITHDRAWN.
It would be recalled that C.O. Adebayo won the primary election held on the 27th day of May 2022 in a free, fair and credible process, with no report of irregularities from the Independent National Electoral Commission. However, a few days later, a rerun election was purported to have taken place which saw Hon. Raheem Olawuyi Ajuloopin is the reported winner.
As justice would have it, the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin on the 2nd day of November 2022 declared the rerun election null and void, thereby confirming the candidacy of Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo as valid and authentic.
In a media chat with Adebayo, he noted that what happened today at the Supreme Court is God’s will as the Almighty alone is the giver of power and gives it to whosoever he wishes.
“Justice and societal moral values are expected to be preserved in a democratic nation, unlike what is being practised here in Nigeria!
My goal is for the growth and development of our constituency and ultimately, Kwara State in its entirety. I’ve fought for what I believe I won, I am therefore a WINNER.”
“I am confident that by all the stakeholders working together, with me striving to do my part by the grace of God, all our efforts and dedication for the advancement and development of our constituencies will come to fruition.” He added.
He concluded by appreciating his supporters for standing firmly with him during the legal tussle, reiterating to them that the journey is just starting.
