Hundreds of aged women in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State have benefited from a cash empowerment programme organized by the Barrister Salome Bake Kisira Foundation.
The empowerment initiative, held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the frontage of the Emir of Okuta’s Palace, attracted elderly women from all political wards in the local government.
According to Barrister Salome Bake Kisira, the programme was organized to honor her late father, Elder Peter Kisira, former Deputy Governor of Kwara State. It also aligns with the human capital development agenda of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration.
The initiative targeted the most vulnerable elderly women, aiming to improve their lives not only in Baruten LGA but across other parts of the state.
Before the commencement of the event, Barrister Kisira and her team visited key traditional rulers, including Prof. Halidu Abubakar, HRH Emir of Ilesha Baruba, and HRM Alh. (Hon) Dr. Idris Abubakar, Emir of Okuta (Permanent Chairman, Baruten Emirate Council). She also paid respects at her late father’s burial site in Ilesha Baruba.
Barrister Salome Bake Kisira, recognized as the first Christian lawyer from Baruten LGA, has remained committed to humanitarian efforts through her foundation. She reaffirmed her dedication to alleviating poverty and uplifting vulnerable communities.
