The approval of N2b for the upgrade of the Indoor sports hall of the Kwara State stadium by the state executive council under governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been described as another huge step towards revamping sports facilities in the state .
The Chairman, Kwara state Para Athletics Association, Barrister AbdulKadir Aiyelabegan stated this while reacting to the development.
Aiyelabegan stated that the upgrade is long overdue considering the importance of the edifice in the development of athletes in terms of their training and retraining.
According to Aiyelabegan, the recent approval by Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq to upgrade Indoor sports hall is a renewed commitment of the present administration to expose state’s athletes to modern facilities which requires of professionals and when completed will provide template for hosting of national and international competitions.
While commending Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the giant stride in the sports sector, he called on the contractor expected to handle the project to execute it according to the specifications to guarantee its longevity.
The association however solicited for modern tricycle for the state’s para athletes who have been putting the state on the world map for optimal performance in the future championship.
