Following the release of our members – AbdulRazaq Aiyelabegan and Oluwatoyin Lukman, Publishers of Just Event Online and SATCOM Media respectively, from police custody after 10days detention, the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) has extended appreciation to well meaning Kwarans and stakeholders who showed solidarity and support during their incarceration.

ASKOMP Chairman, Salihu Shola Taofeek in a statement issued on Wednesday after securing the bail of detained journalists at Kwara Revenue Court, says the association opted for Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) to resolve the conflict.

According to him, AbdulRazaq Aiyelabegan and Oluwatoyin Lukman were released this afternoon from Kwara State Police Command Headquarters, Ilorin, after the court granted the bail application filed by counsel to our members, Taofeeq Olateju (Esq).

The association used the opportunity to thank all stakeholders, individuals and of course, government officials who feel concerned and gave every support from the beginning until their release was secured.

The Association particularly appreciates the petitioner, Ms. Jumoke Gafar for her openness to an amicable resolution, having understand that our members have no intention to malign her.

He however tasked ASKOMP members to continue to uphold ethics of journalism and remain resolute in discharging their duties.
