AFCON: Eagles to play Egypt, Sudan, G’Bissau in Group D

Three-time African champions Super Eagles were on Tuesday drawn against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau in Group D of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for next year in Cameroon.

The draw ceremony, which was conducted by the Confederation of African Football, took place inside the Yaounde Conference Centre.

The AFCON tournament, which will for the first time consist of 24 teams, has been scheduled to hold from January 9 to February 6, 2022.

The Eagles begin their quest for glory against the Pharaohs at the Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua on January 11.

Nigeria last won the Nations Cup in 2013, when they defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 in South Africa courtesy of Sunday Mba’s first-half strike and will be hoping to add to their three AFCON wins when the tournament begins next year.
