The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called for the strengthening of inter-state policing to stem cross-border criminal activities.
Adeleke disclosed this on Thursday through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, while hosting a security meeting with top police officers in the state.
The governor, who hailed the performances of the police and other security agencies, added that continuous intelligence sharing among the security commands in the state will aid the stoppage of criminals in their tracks before they launch cross-border raids.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 11, Mr Akande Sikiru and the Commissioners of Police from Oyo, Osun states.
He added that inter-state criminal attacks have become a menace which requires urgent attention.
He said, “I am elated to have all of you here led by the police boss for the zone. Recent security breaches are traced to inter-state raids by criminals. So it is productive that we have all the relevant officers here. Let us strengthen collaboration and partnership. Osun must remain as peaceful as ever.”
Speaking, AIG Sikiru commended Adeleke’s leadership on governance and security strategies, assuring.
He vowed that the police service is re-strategising to sustain the records of peaceful existence in Osun state.
