The immediate past Chief of Staff, Presidency, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, CFR, has assured the leadership of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) of his readiness to support the developmental initiatives of the Union.
Prof. Gambari, who is also Nigeria’s longest serving Permanent Representative to the United Nations, gave this assurance on Saturday at a meeting with the leadership of the Union in GRA, Ilorin.

The renowned international public servant thanked the Union for working tirelessly towards the promotion of peace and progress of Ilorin Emirate and the nation at large.
Prof. Gambari, who equally served as Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister between 1984 and 1985, also thanked the Union for considering him worthy of being inducted into the “Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame”, promising that he would attend the investiture slated for December 24, 2025 in Ilorin.
Earlier, the National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, said that the purpose of the meeting was to formally intimate the world class diplomat of his nomination into the Hall of Fame, which was established to honour extremely outstanding indigenes and residents of the community.
He informed Prof Gambari that his nomination was based on his track-record in teaching, diplomacy and community development and being a role-model to thousands of his younger compatriots.
The President also pointed out that the frontline prince was one of the 25 individuals selected from the list of over 100 nominees.
Alhaji Abdulmalik thanked Prof. Gambari for his previous services to Ilorin Emirate and the nation and wish him a long life and sound health as he prepares for his 81st birthday coming up next month.
The President was accompanied on the visit by the National Secretary, Abubakar Imam; the National Treasurer, Alhaji Usman Toyin Salman; the National Auditor, Alhaji Adam Hanafi Alabere; the Assistant National Social Secretary, Mallam Suleiman Mahmud Alaro; the Assistant National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Suleiman Dagbo; the Chairman of the Union’s 2025 Conference Planning Committee; Dr Abdulateef Hammed and a retired Permanent Secretary in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdullahi Kale Yusuf.
