The Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association (IEYDA), under the auspices of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on Sunday empowered three roadside petty traders in the Ajikobi area of Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The gesture, which members of the association described as impromptu, occurred during a brief stop at Ajikobi Assembly on Sunday, where the team had paused to rest after an official engagement.
Just Event Online TV reports, the leadership of IEYDA had patronized a local pap (ogi) seller, ordering moi moi and ponmo for over 60 members to refresh themselves.
Impressed by the woman’s dedication to her small business, the IEYDA President, Alhaji Muhammad Uthman Jagunmo alongside other members, commended her resilience and announced a support fund of N50,000 to help grow her venture.
In a similar vein, an elderly woman selling mangoes in the area was also supported. After members bought off her stock, she was gifted an additional N10,000 to boost her business.
Another petty trader selling chilled soft drinks during the hot weather received a donation of N20,000 from the association.
“We acknowledge the effort and turnover in your respective businesses. That’s why we’re happy to support you—because we know you will make an impact on your community,” said the IEYDA President during the interaction.
In their individual remarks, the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to IEYDA for the unexpected support. They offered prayers for continued blessings, guidance, and protection for the association’s executives and members.
