The youngest candidate in Nigeria, Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared as the validly elected candidate of APC for Kwara State House of Assembly in Owode Onire state constituency, Asa local govt area of Kwara State.
The supreme court gave its judgement today in Abuja, upholding the federal court of appeal judgement, which had earlier declared that Rukayat Shittu is the validly elected candidate of the APC for Owode Onire.
While responding to the judgement at the supreme court premises in Abuja, Rukayat Shittu thanked the almighty Allah, her legal team and all those who invested and believed in her potentials.
According to her, Allah made this victory possible, but he used people to actualize it. I therefore thank Allah for designing this mission from the start and I also appreciate those who made it possible.
Speaking on her challenger, Alh Ayinde Alajere, who dragged the matter all the way to supreme court, Rukayat said, I am happy that he exercised his democratic right to the fullest.
“We are in democracy and everyone has the option of exploring their democratic right to the fullest, if they believe they have a good reason to do so” she said.
She also added that, like I have always said, APC is one big family and even if we disagree, which is normal in any family, we will reconcile and still progress together like brothers and sisters.
She therefore call on all APC members to embrace each other and work together as a team.
