The Kwara Central Advancement Elders Forum, comprising card-carrying members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from Asa, Ilorin West, Ilorin East, and Ilorin South Local Government Areas, has expressed their concerns and positions on current political developments in the state.
In a press conference held on Friday at the NUJ Press Centre in Ilorin, Arch. Akanbi Lamidi on behalf of the Forum rejected an endorsement of a group, “Kwara Central APC Elders” claiming to have endorsed the Kwara North Senatorial district for the governorship of Kwara State in 2027.
He emphasized that the group do not have the mandate to speak on behalf of the party or the people of Kwara Central Senatorial District.
The Kwara Central Advancement Elders Forum rejected claims of a 2019 agreement on zoning arrangements, demanding evidence and challenging anyone making such claims to present the purported document.
Arc. Lamidi expressed appreciation for the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has led the state with distinction and ensured inclusive governance across all zones.
The forum equally highlighted the demographic significance of Kwara Central, which remains the most populous and politically active senatorial district in Kwara State, with over 40% of the state’s total voting population residing in Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, and Asa Local Government Areas.
They however, cautioned against actions that could undermine the party’s peace, unity, and future, emphasizing the need for collective effort to achieve victory in 2027, while reaffirming the party’s commitment to transparency, fairness, unity, and collective effort in achieving electoral success.
