The APC Concerned Kwara Central Senatorial Elders held a press conference at Adewole Estate, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The group, comprising influential members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kwara Central Senatorial District, urged the party to zone the governorship position to Kwara North in 2027.
Led by their spokesperson, Ahmad Abdullah, the elders cited a mutual understanding reached in 2019 between Kwara Central and Kwara North leaders, where Kwara Central would support Kwara North’s aspiration for the governorship in 2027. They emphasized that this agreement was built on the principles of equity, fairness, and inclusivity.
Just Event Online Tv reports, the group highlighted that Kwara Central has held the governorship for 20 years (1999-2003 and 2019-2027), while Kwara South had its turn for eight years (2011-2019). They argued that it’s time for the pendulum to swing towards Kwara North, citing the zone’s rich pool of leaders with notable achievements in various human endeavors.
The elders also paid tribute to the late Alhaji Musa Mayaki, former Chairman of Concerned Kwara Central Elders, and observed a minute of silence to honor his memory and legacy.
In addition to their call for zoning, the group commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration for its developmental projects and commitment to social justice, particularly the reconnection of Kwara State to the Universal Basic Education Program.
The elders concluded by urging Governor Abdulrazaq to consider running for the Kwara Central Senatorial seat in 2027, citing his vast experience and achievements as a quiet achiever and champion of the masses.
