As Nigerians ready to take a decision on who should be the country’s next president on 25 February 2023, Ilorin West/Asa PDP House of Reps candidate , Alhaji Mohammed Ajia has described PDP presidential flagbearer, Alh. Atiku Abubakar as the best and most qualified among those seeking to become Nigeria’s next president.
Ajia said Atiku Abubakar’s plan of action with regard to youth empowerment will naturally motivate young people in the country to vote for the PDP.
In a media parley with journalists in Ilorin, he posited that no one among the presidential candidates had prioritized the interest of the young people and women like Atiku had done, citing his promise to earmark 60 billion dollars for youth and women empowerment programmes.
“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar told us that he has set aside 60 billion dollars for women and youth empowerment programmes. This means that 270 million dollars will be coming to Kwara state. This is enough for us to start new businesses.
“So, the governance that Alhaji Atiku is bringing will be different from what we currently have. He has assured all Nigerians that women and youth will be his priority; this money is for business, to create wealth and move Nigeria forward.
“Let us join hands together, come out and vote for PDP on 25th February, the party that will take Nigeria to greater height he said.
‘We have been saying this from day one that this country can only work when you have somebody who has the character, competence and the capacity, gentlemen of the press, if you look at all the presidential candidates the only person who can fix the problems of this country is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Not because he’s a member of my party, you can check his track record, his ability to unify the country, his business orientation and his knowledge of security’ he said.
The PDP reps candidate has also urged Nigerians to prioritize experience and competence above money while also sending an important message to the electors in Asa/Ilorin West federal constituency.
I understand how government works. I’ve been there and I know what the problems of our people are. One of the challenges we have faced in our federal constituency is that we don’t have anybody at the centre where the decision of distributing the common wealth of this country is being made, he said
I keep saying that one of the reasons we are not moving forward is because the basic things for governance is what we don’t consider which is character, competence and courage and these three things must go with excellence. Somebody who is going to represent you or serve you is going to manage the resources of the entire people and therefore, he or she must be the right candidate.
It’s because we don’t have the needed representation, we don’t have those people who can go and speak for us. For the first time, I’m urging our people that they should support PDP across the board and we will bring the best of representation and the best of governance to our people’ he submitted
Commenting on the growing tension in the country sequel to the scarcity of petrol and new naira notes and the concomitant hardships, Ajia urged Nigerians especially the young people to keep calm and not heat up the polity but rather wait until the Election Day and help to produce a new set of leaders that will change things for the better
‘We have never had it this bad, I have been one of the virulent critics of the CBN governor from day one, even though at the moment he is trying to bring a policy that ought to help us in terms of security and corruption but because of the approach and the method of carrying it out. We are now using naira to buy our own naira.
The pains and suffering is unprecedented but the solution is to support PDP that has demonstrated capability in the past and now ready to do it again excellently. I want to urge all to support PDP across the board, Our party is bringing shared prosperity, we will grow the economy and tackle unemployment’ he said.
Ajia, a retired security chief, has also assured that the police and other security agencies will not allow anyone intimidate voters on the Election Day.
I want to urge our people that they should not be intimidated by anybody, arrangements have been put in place to ensure security of lives and property. The Inspector General of police is working around the clock, he will be supported by other security agencies in Nigeria nobody can intimidate you before, during or after the elections.
All the plans of people trying to introduce thuggery, violence on the election day are just mere jokes because whoever tries that, we will make sure that the arms of the law catches up with him or her, we will not only deal with them, we will ensure that even their family is prosecuted because it will be considered as a conspiracy against the country.
We assure Nigerians that intelligence officers are already outside there as they are planning the information is around everywhere all the plans of bringing in thugs, giving them police uniform, all these things are things of the past.
He cautioned all political actors that they should desist from this idea of trying to use violence but rather conduct themselves peacefully, for us to have a free and successful election’ he submitted.
