As I celebrate my one-year inauguration as a lawmaker in the Kwara Assembly, I thank Almighty Allah for guiding me through this journey and look forward to continued dedication and service to the people of Kwara.
Today, I am filled with gratitude for the unwavering support and trust shown to me by my constituents.
Your encouragement and partnership have been instrumental in the achievements we have made together over the past year.
Over the year, I am driven by the objectives of providing quality education to the younger generation, access of healthcare, and provision of infrastructural development, aimed at providing the basic necessities of life to my constituents.
Some of the projects, achievements, and impact recorded over the past twelve months are highlighted below;
Awarding Scholarship to Over 120 Students
I believe in the importance of education for the future of our nation, and with this belief in mind, I initiated a project to positively impact the lives of the next generation in my constituency.
On October 1, 2023, I awarded scholarships to over 120 students in my constituency, covering the costs of their WAEC fees and tuition for all three terms of the school year.
Through this scholarship program, I aim to provide opportunities for the youth in my constituency to fulfill their potential and achieve their dreams.
By investing in their education, I hope to empower them to make a positive impact on society and build a better future for themselves and their community.
Medical Outreach Program
It is often said that health is wealth, and a healthy community is a prosperous one.
That’s why ensuring access to adequate healthcare is a top priority for me to my constituency.
On February 4, 2023, I organized a medical outreach program that provided free healthcare services to more than 500 residents.
The initiative included distributing free eye glasses to over 300 individuals, providing free medication to over 200 participants, and performing free eye surgery on 59 patients to correct various eye issues.
On February 15, 2024, the patients who underwent surgery had their operations at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital to address their eye problems.
The initiative has brought significant relief to numerous households in my constituency, leading to an improvement in the productivity and efficiency of the communities.
Provision of Cash Palliative
In response to the removal of fuel subsidies and the resulting challenges, on April 4, 2024, I implemented cash palliatives to ease the financial strain on our citizens. This reflects my commitment to the well-being of all constituents.
The palliative measures offered financial assistance to over 250 vulnerable individuals in Kwara, aiming to supplement the efforts of both state and federal governments in alleviating the economic hardships faced by our citizens.
Similarly, during the launch of the inaugural edition of the “First Joint Empowerment Scheme”; initiated by members of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Kwara Central, I provided financial support to vulnerable constituents to alleviate the impact of the prevailing economic challenges.
The scheme launched on June 1 2024 is aimed at supporting the efforts of the state government to alleviate the impact of the prevailing economic challenges.
Facilitation of Six Motorized Boreholes
As per the United Nations, Water is recognized as a crucial element for sustainable socio-economic development and human survival. It is often said that Water equals Life.
In a concerted effort to enhance the quality of life in my constituency by ensuring consistent access to clean and sufficient water supply, I commissioned six motorized boreholes on February 2, 2024.
These boreholes were strategically placed to serve both rural and urban communities within my constituency. The project involved the establishment of three boreholes in rural areas and an additional three in urban communities.
Specifically, the communities benefiting from this initiative include Oke-Oyi ward, Gurumo, Zango Ward, Ajia-Ode Ibagun Ward, Karumo Gambari Ward 2, Maya Village Maya Ile-Apa Ward, and Kure-Oja Marafa-Pepele Ward.
Following the successful completion of these boreholes, it ensured an improvement in the living standards of residents and also lead to increased agricultural productivity.
Facilitation of Twelve Motorized Boreholes
Following the drilling of six motorized boreholes, I further facilitated the establishment of twelve motorized boreholes in every ward of my constituency.
This initiative is geared towards guaranteeing that every household in my constituency has access to clean and sufficient water supply.
I am committed to continuing to serve you to the best of my ability, but I cannot do it alone.
I humbly seek your continued support and cooperation as we strive to achieve even more in the future.
Together, we can accomplish great things for our constituency and bring about meaningful changes. Thank you for standing by me, and I look forward to working hand in hand with you as we build a brighter future for all.
Hon. Arinola Fatimoh Lawal
